How to Navigate Around Siesta Key While on Your Vacation

Siesta Key may be small, but getting around with a vehicle will save you a lot of time and sweat! You won’t need a car to get around, however. Six years ago, the idea of free transport was embraced to reduce congestion, and now there are numerous services providing this convenient and eco-friendly service. Wherever you go on Siesta Key, you won’t have to worry about traffic or parking!

Siesta Key Breeze Trolley

This free transport service is provided via courtesy of the Sarasota County Area Transit (or SCAT). No need to worry about parking when you can simply jump on a trolley for roundtrip service across the key! The trolley route runs from Siesta Key Village to Turtle Beach with many stops along the way. Passengers can wait for the next trolley at a designated SCAT bus stop or flag the trolley between Stickney Point Road and Turtle Beach Park. The trolley service runs every 20 to 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Siesta Key Free Ride

This tip-only taxi service transports you anywhere you want to go on Siesta Key – from your rental to the beach, village, or restaurants. Not only does Siesta Key Free Rides provide an economical service, but the ride itself is worth experiencing! The service operates a fleet of six-seater electric vehicles that glide at 25 miles per hour, far from your standard taxi service. Each vehicle includes bench seats and a rear box for transporting your latest purchases or beach gear. You may have seen these unique electric vehicles before featured on Siesta Key photographs. They’ve become a tourist attraction in their own right!

Call 941 952 8294 for service. Besides providing basic shuttle services, vehicles are available for island tours on a per hour basis or for larger events.

Jonny’s Free Ride

In 2010, Jonathan Freed and Brenda Anderton pioneered the first free shuttle service on Siesta Key, and it has been a wild success ever since! Their service provides a fun, safe, and eco-friendly way to get around. Seven days a week, rain or shine, 365 days a year – you can count on Jonny’s Free Ride to pick you up and drop you off anywhere on the key. Just be sure to tip your driver!

Their fleet includes island carts, which service an 8-mile area from Turtle Beach to Siesta Key Village onto the mainland.

Additionally, Jonny’s offers a delivery service for restaurants. They also deliver groceries for Crescent Beach Grocery. All of this costs no more than a tip! Contact Jonny’s Free Ride at 941 928 9200.

Siesta Trolley

Siesta Trolley provides a slightly different service – ideal if you are traveling in a larger group. They service groups for tours and sightseeing, airport transfers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, weddings, and other large events. Call 941 915 3232 to book their services or contact them online.

Any of these services will get you where you need to go. While Siesta Key may seem small, it stretches over 8 miles, and there are plenty of things to do on both north and south ends. For maximum convenience, call a taxi service straight to your Siesta Key condo rental to go shopping, to eat out, or simply to spend another day at the beach.
